hallelujah, health food is not a dirty word anymore. I mean its not as if you couldnt get it but in many peoples minds (if not reality) healthy equalled boring and brown. Konstam in its reincarnation at the Prince Albert a few doors up has made headlines sourcing locally, as well as being healthy. The original cafe is a bit of an oddity in London. It serves tasteful, wholesome food, the likes of which "food for thought" in Covent Garden and countless health food bars have been doing for many years. What sets it apart though is that it isnt vegetarian and has an altogether more sophisticated edge. Yes there are lentils and chickpeas but they are freshly dressed and the ambiance is firmly cafe cool with art and long benches. My friend was less charmed by the lack of cola but blown away by the quality of the ingredients. And my goodness wasnt the pastis de nada (portugeuse custard tart) the best one Ive had in London. healthy, yummy mmmm.
